Decorative and Hard Crome
DECORATIVE
The chromium plating is usually applied over bright nickel plating. Typical base materials include steel, aluminium, plastic, copper alloys, and zinc alloys.[2] Decorative chrome plating is also very corrosion resistant and is often used on car parts, tools and kitchen utensils.

HARD
Hard chrome, also known as industrial chrome or engineered chrome, is used to reduce friction, improve durability through abrasion tolerance and wear resistance in general, minimize galling or seizing of parts, expand chemical inertness to include a broader set of conditions (such as oxidation resistance), and bulking material for worn parts to restore their original dimension
Polishing and
Buffing
The metal polishing process involves the following steps123:

Clean the metal piece with liquid dish soap and rinse it off.

Coat the surface of your object with your polish compound.

Allow more tarnished objects to soak for 3-5 minutes.

Wipe the object down with a damp microfiber cloth.

Rinse the metal and dry it off with a clean towel.

Depending on the strength of the metal, different types of abrasives may be used during polishing.

The first step in metal polishing is to clean the surface thoroughly, removing any dirt, oil, or other contaminants.

The process can be done manually or with the use of machines and can involve different techniques, including buffing, sanding, grinding, and polishing.
Chrome plating
Chrome plating is a process with many steps that are different for each base metal. We electroplate copper, nickel, chromium, or gold onto the part being chrome plated. The basic electroplating process is to dissolve a metal with something and run an electric current through the solution, which pulls the dissolved metal ions out of the solution and onto the part being chrome plated. The parts are connected to copper hooks or racks and are hung into the plating tanks.
